Though it's still largely under construction, the newly opened Brooklyn Bridge park is being well received by those who want to promenade and drink with views of the Manhattan skyline. Just as long as they don't bring their dogs. The New York Times opines that though walkways remain unpaved and many handrails are not installed, the park is spacious and well designed.

Yelpers have also been getting in on the conversation, with the park getting all 4 and 5 star reviews. One commenter wrote, "They turned a dirty old parking lot into one of the nicest areas in Brooklyn!", though another warned "go there at dusk on a weekday when the lights are glistening, NOT Sunday morning when everyone and their grandma are taking wedding pictures out there." Man, it's barely been two weeks and the weddings are there! The best review is actually not even about the park, but its pristine amenities. "They've got some crazy deluxe flushing porta-potty rooms, complete with a mirrored vanity and a sink with running water! You may think you've died and gone to public restroom fancy-town, but no - you're just at Brooklyn Bridge Park." We'll see how long that lasts.

Currently only the 6 acre Pier 1 is open, though that's bigger than Bryant Park. Ultimately the whole park will be about 8% of the size of Central Park. Pier 1 features a small playground and lots of open lawn space, and future piers will have volleyball courts, softball fields, a pebble beach and outdoor event space.
