A woman who was crossing a Brooklyn street Thursday morning was struck and killed by a driver who drove away from the scene, police said.
The 44-year-old victim, whom police did not identify, was walking in Midwood when the driver hit her as they made a left turn onto Ocean Avenue from Avenue O at about 6:40 a.m., an NYPD spokesperson said.
The woman was severely injured in the crash, the spokesperson said.
A witness called 911, and emergency responders rushed the woman to Maimonides Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the vehicle drove off after the crash and remains at large, the NYPD said. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
