The state Department of Transportation has scrapped plans for an elevated road over Starlight Park.

Each capped section of highway would cost $2 billion, according to the city's transportation department.

A state and city study group looking for solutions has been talking to people who work, live and play near the highway.

Police say the drivers involved stayed on the scene in both instances.

The weekend ‘walkshops’ are part of a $2 million federally funded study to plot a better future for the highway, which has long been criticized as a scar of environmental racism.

The study seeks to identify remedies for the unequal health outcomes in the largely Black and Latino neighborhoods surrounding the highway.

“The sins of past development can and must be undone," Senator Chuck Schumer said.

The dangling bus was removed at 7:30 a.m.

Two pedestrians were killed by hit-and-run drivers in separate incidents in the Bronx and Manhattan today.

The deceased was ejected from a car, according to police.
