The recent trend of discussing the proliferation of dog crap in Harlem has uncovered the work of one woman, Millie Gonzalez, who has spent the last six months patrolling the neighborhood with her beagle and picking up animal waste that other residents refuse to retrieve. It remains unclear whether it's the new gentrifiers or old people who can't bend over to grab the stuff.
Anyway, every morning Gonzalez, accompanied by the four-legged Mr. Marbles, will pick up all of the feces she finds in the four block radius surrounding her house, hard work that usually results in an entire grocery bag full of dog shit. Not stopping there, she and other members of the Marcus Garvey Dog Run clean up even more local dog waste every Saturday morning. They even created a free bag dispenser "for pet owners in need." Talk about fulfilling civic duties.
