Hoo-wee, yesterday's high of 92 in Central Park smashed the old record of 84 set in 1942. It won't be nearly as warm today as a weak cold front has moved south of the city. The air mass behind the front isn't cold but it is blowing over the chilly ocean waters. Today's high in the low 80s will only be twenty degrees above normal.

The cold front will back out of the region tonight. The normal high for Tuesday is 65 degrees. That will be the low temperature tomorrow morning. With this front out of the picture, the wind will swing out of the west, and tomorrow's high will come close to the record of 90 set in 1990.

Following the encore performance the heat will be gone. A strong cold front Tuesday night will bring the chance of showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday morning. Wednesday's high will be in the seasonable mid 60s. Thursday should be brilliantly sunny and cool, with a high only around 60.
