Police are investigating a crash that killed a 60-year-old Queens woman crossing Broadway in Midtown on Monday night.
Wendy Davis was walking from east to west at the south crosswalk of Broadway and West 53rd Street just before 9 p.m. when she was struck by the driver of a Cadillac XT6 SUV making a left turn, according to NYPD officials. Police said the driver had been heading west in the left lane on West 53rd Street and hit Davis while attempting to turn south onto Broadway.
Davis sustained severe injuries to her head and body and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital, the NYPD said. Officials said she had the right of way when she was struck. She lived in Forest Hills, according to police.
The 61-year-old driver stayed at the scene and was not arrested or charged, authorities said.
According to NYPD data, three people died in traffic crashes in the Midtown North Precinct this year through November, including two pedestrians. The precinct's total number of crashes has declined slightly since last year, with 895 reported through November 2025 and 918 through the same month in 2024.
