The Parks Department has made a big fuss this spring and summer of making eight designated quiet zones around Central Park. And yet even though they (forcibly) are getting rid of the musicians by Bethesda Fountain there is still a lotta noise by the landmark location. The culprit? No less than the food stand that some argue was the real reason for the Department's earlier aggressively anti-musician stance.

The Fatty crew behind Fatty Crab and Fatty 'Cue recently opened up a new Fatty Snack kiosk to the south east of the fountain and realized they needed power. So naturally they went and installed a generator to keep things buzzing. A very noisy generator next to a very bright food truck in a landmarked location. Would you be surprised to learn that that parks activists and musicans were not amused? "The generator makes more noise than the musicians," John Boyd, 48, who has been smacked with five summonses by cops, complained to the Post. To their credit, when the Fatty Crew got word yesterday they were being too noisy they jumped to action. "The issue has been addressed," a Fatty rep tells us. "The generator has been replaced by an electrical outlet."

So the noisy generator is no more—but issues surrounding food vending in the area are not over. See, since those stands are "temporary" they've gone up without approval from community boards or the landmarks commission...

In the meantime, the menu board at the kiosk has us excited for more legal (and very expensive) drinking options coming to the park.
