Between the upcoming opening of The Museum Of Pizza and the return of The Museum Of Ice Cream (note: neither of these are actual museums), there is no shortage of food-based Instagrammable events for New Yorkers looking to snag an effervescent candy-colored photo to impress their social media followers. But why waste your time with ice cream and pizza (I'm only kidding pizza, you know you're my one true love) when you can skip straight to mainlining actual candy directly into your Instagram feed? Later this summer, Candytopia, an immersive candy-based pop-up, is coming to NYC to scratch that itch.
Following a successful run in Santa Monica earlier this year, Candytopia is bringing "an imaginative confectionary wonderland with a one-of-a-kind full sensory experience" to the not-so-candy-colored confines of midtown Manhattan. The project is the work of celebrity candy stylist Jackie Sorkin in partnership with her co-founders, events and production design expert Zac Hartog, CEO of ZH Productions, and retail veteran John Goodman.
You can get a look inside the West Coast pop-up below (and by clicking through the above photos). Beware, the soundtrack is way too on the nose:
According to a press release, Candytopia features "more than one dozen unique rooms and larger-than-life interactive art installations inspired by pure, sugary bliss. Guests are treated to candy samples throughout the entire experience including sours and gummies, chocolate treats, nostalgic favorites, and many sweet surprises."
Candytopia will be located at Penn Plaza (145 W 32nd St.). Opening day is August 15th, pre-sale starts July 17th, and general tickets go up starting July 19th — they advise that tickets must be purchased in advance and they are expected to sell out quickly. You don't want to be the LOSER with the LAME Instagram story, so go here for more ticket information.
