Good to know: The Northern Lights have actually appeared over the five boroughs quite a few times over the years.

After a small flare Sunday, the sun went and spat out the biggest solar flare of the year yesterday. Don't be scared though, it looked gorgeous.

For the first time since 1859, we may get to see the aurora borealis in NYC... but the event that causes it could be "catastrophic."

Who cares about seasonally appropriate weather finally coming when the sun just farted in our general direction!
