A fatal crash at LaGuardia led to crowding at Newark and JFK as some fliers rebooked flights during an already-hectic travel period from the partial government shutdown.

Port Authority executives say the crash happened on a runway as the plane was landing and the rescue vehicle was responding to a separate incident.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

The improvements also include increased service at peak times and a dedicated pick-up and drop-off area at the airport.

LaGuardia was once notorious for being one of the nation's worst airports, with Joe Biden once calling it a "third-world country."

Around 144 million people flew through Newark, LaGuardia, and JFK Airports last year.

J.D. Power ranked the once national joke to 'average' in customer satisfaction — a huge leap from dead last in 2019.

Passengers flying into LaGuardia Airport on Sunday should be ready to make transportation plans outside of Uber and Lyft, as drivers prepare for a strike when no pickups will occur.

The bus can connect travelers taking the subway or LIRR to LaGuardia.

“There’s near universal consensus that mass transit access to LaGuardia Airport has to be improved, the question remains what is the best way to do it," an official from the Port Authority said.
