The pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing on a Long Island highway Wednesday afternoon.

The airline sited a "non-critical equipment issue."

Same pilot, same plane, same highway.

Private boaters helped rescue the pilot and passengers from the helicopter, which was bobbing up and down in the river.

"In this type of case, he said, after the rear wheels touch down, the pilot holds back the yoke, or steering wheel, to keep the nose up as long as possible."

Port Authority put foam on the runway for the plane's emergency landing.

Ross was on a flight going from Ft. Lauderdale to Memphis earlier today when he lost consciousness, causing the flight to make an emergency landing.
