Police are on the lookout for a group of criminals who seem to routinely hold older women captive in cars, once even locking a woman in a car trunk, during robberies. In at least three incidents in Jamaica, Queens since last April, two or three men have held a woman captive while a female accomplice makes a withdrawal with the victim's ATM card.
None of the women were hurt, but the robbers either showed or said they had a gun. One victim's neighbor said, “I have to be careful, because I am always scared of who’s by me, hiding somewhere behind the bushes." Don't forget about desolate street corners, dark alleys, and shadowy vestibules!
