The annual Inner Circle dad joke-a-thon goes down next weekend, and Mayor de Blasio has just released this video to help promote the event, which raises money for local charities. The show traditionally features the City Hall press corps performing a variety of cringe-worthy comedy sketches, followed by the mayor's performance in even more embarrassing skits. But this video, featuring a very talented de Blasio impersonator, is actually pretty amusing:
In January, when de Blasio's relationship with NYPD union leaders was severely strained, a former NYPD detective insinuated that the mayor was smoking marijuana on a regular basis. De Blasio emphatically denied this, stating, "I haven’t smoked marijuana since I was at NYU,” and then followed up by slyly tweeting a photo showing a groovy-looking de Blasio during "my NYU days." (We then ranked the Top 10 Most Stoned Young De Blasio photos.) Months later, it looks like de Blaze-io is still laughing off the pot smear—and the video gets really amazing if you sync it up to Dark Side of the Moon.
