On Tuesday, MSG announcers Sam Rosen and Joe Micheletti lamented that John Giannone, their sideline reporter, was not between the Rangers' and Devils' benches (the Devils don't allow that in the Prudential Center). But after getting hit in the face with an errant puck during Thursday night's Rangers-Islanders game at MSG, Giannone might want to start working more Devils games.

With just seconds to go in the second period, Giannone found himself on the receiving end of a puck hit by Marc Staal. He got an apology from the defenseman and free treatment from the Rangers medical staff. He also got to talk on camera while bleeding from the face. That will look good on a clip reel!

On his Twitter account, Giannone thanked Rangers trainer Jim Ramsay, and said he may have a broken nose and that his face is sore and swollen. He also said the injury might have been avoided had he not checked the clock as the period wound down.
