During the Tuesday night taping of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart announced that he would be leaving the program, sending fans into a Twitter tear and media writers into a hot take frenzy. During last night's program, Stewart told his audience, "Last night, I was perusing the Internet. And I guess my question for you is 'Did I die?' 'Cause it all seems very 'I died.'"
Stewart conceded, "No, it's very weird, an overwhelming day here as you can imagine," and then revealed that he was considering some of the job offers he's been getting:
Stewart said on the Tuesday night broadcast, "17 years is the longest, in my life, I've ever held a job by 16 years and 5 months. In my heart I know it's time for someone else to have that opportunity. Not right away, we're still working out details." But there's supposedly a "short list" of candidates!
