Suddenly we loooove Chihuahuas, those dainty dogs with the bulging eyes we always dismissed as maddening yap machines. (Apparently, they don't do that if you train them right.) Yesterday we barely survived a cute attack when Virgin America released photos of 15 Chihuahuas walking a red carpet to their flight from San Francisco to NYC, where they're being put up for adoption because of Chihuahua overcrowding in shelters. Now there's video of the flying Chihuahuas.
Anyone interested in adopting one of these little guys is being instructed by the ASPCA to report to 424 East 92nd Street at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13th. The ASPCA is making a point to tell people not to arrive earlier than that, but we suspect they'll be a line forming overnight. If you have any dogs already, you need to bring them with you to see if they're going to tolerate each other, and you should also be prepared to pay between $75 to $200 for "medical behavior treatment, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and a microchip." These things are tiny, so the microchip is probably for GPS tracking in case they disappear under the fridge.
