After inciting the wrath of Today Show weather forecaster Al Roker for not calling a snow day on February 12, Mayor de Blasio is facing the music: He'll be on the Today Show in minutes.
The mayor's schedule says, "Appears on Today Show for Rockefeller Plaza Ribbon Cutting
30 Rockefeller Plaza," while a NBC release says (via Capital New York), "de Blasio will visit NBC's TODAY live … as part of the morning show's Olympic-sized homecoming. Mayor de Blasio will cut the ribbon to inaugurate TODAY's new and enhanced plaza. The mayor and Al Roker will also address their recent disagreement over New York City school closures due to winter storms."
We'll only be satisfied if de Blasio drives his SUV through the Today Show crowds.
Update: That was slightly awkward! Before de Blasio cut the ribbon on the Today Show plaza, Matt Lauer asked de Blasio if he "knew" Roker. And that led to this awkward backpat man hug:

Roker said, "We'll get this out of the way... we had a little chat about school closings and snow and we both want the best for our school kids and our city."
"That's right," said de Blasio. "And Al, I think together letting people know what's going on with the weather and letting people know how they can be safe, that's something we do together."
Then the mayor added, "I want to let you know we have a little snow coming up in the next few days, so I'd like to invite you to join us"—presents Roker with a Department of Sanitation cap—"for snow clearance. This could be a new part of your career."

Roker put the hat on, "I'd love to do it. My dad was a bus driver and he used to drive a snow-clearing bus." Then Roker showed off his knowledge, "New York's Strongest!" he said, referring to the Department of Sanitation's nickname.
De Blasio commended the Department of Sanitation for everything they've done this brutal winter and he and Roker shook on it. So basically they agreed to disagree politely!
