After winning his second Super Bowl with the Giants in the last five years, Tom Coughlin has signed a two-year contract extension with the team to remain their head coach through at least 2014. Coughlin—who has long been somewhat standoffish with reporters—had this to say to his detractors:
"It has always been my belief that it is an honor and a privilege to be the head coach of the New York Giants," Coughlin said in a statement. Coughlin, 65, enters his ninth season with the Giants as their third all-time winning coach. He has a 142-114 career regular-season record in 16 seasons as a coach with the Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars, and he's tied for 19th all-time on victories. No word yet on what his family, whom he already retired from a few years ago, thinks:
