A 15-year-old girl was killed after the scooter she was riding with another teen collided with a car on a Bronx street, police said.
Daphne Juan, 15, and an 18-year-old scooter driver were heading north on University Avenue near 192nd Street in Kingsbridge Heights, police said, when they collided with a Honda Pilot just before noon Tuesday.
Juan and the scooter driver were both found unconscious and unresponsive with significant injuries to their heads and bodies, according to police. Juan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other teen was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and was later listed in stable condition.
The Honda’s 22-year-old driver stayed at the scene and was not injured, police said. Officials said it was still unclear what caused the crash.
Police later arrested the 18-year-old scooter driver in connection to a different case. His name was not immediately released as charges were pending Wednesday.
