A 63-year-old man was saved after he was shoved onto the subway tracks at an East Harlem subway station by a man he caught urinating inside an elevator at the station.
The Daily News reports that Zegnade Yiogo was waiting for the elevator at the 125th Street station last Saturday evening when he came upon 28-year-old Stefon Bowman allegedly urinating inside of it. “I said, 'Why you do that?' Yiogo told the News.
Although Yiogo didn't get into the elevator, he says Bowman followed him out: "He had something in his hand. I don't know if it was a knife or lighter. That's why I didn't want to be close to him. I run back. Then he push me onto the track," Yiogo said. Luckily, there were two cops nearby the 6 train tracks, who rushed over and helped him up immediately.
As that happened, the crowd waiting for the train apparently surrounded Bowman: "A lot people said, 'Hey Papi, hey Papi, get him, get him!'" Yiogo recalled. "And then he fighting with everybody now." Cops intervened and arrested Bowman without anyone getting hurt.
Bowman, who has been previously arrested on charges of criminal possession of stolen property, theft of services and misdemeanor assault, has been charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment.
