Saturday night is the annual Inner CircleJerk show, an interminable evening of amateur theatricals written and performed by City Hall reporters to poke "fun" at the mayor and other local politicians. The 5 million-hour event, which raises money for various charities and contributes to an important feeling of bonhomie between the press and the administration they're supposed to investigate, traditionally concludes with a third act "rebuttal" staged by the mayor. In past years, this has featured Rudy Giuliani in drag and Bloomberg appearing a haze of marijuana smoke. Now here's video of Mayor de Blasio rehearsing for his Inner Circle debut with Steve Buscemi:

It's true, de Blasio's monkey impersonation made us smile; we'll cherish it the next time we write a piece on police accountability or affordable housing.

If you enjoy watching professionals ingratiate themselves with authority figures with the same fervor they displayed during their high school production of Bye Bye Birdie, you can buy tickets to the event here—$777.24 gets you into general admission. Last year, City Hall reporters made a hiiiiiilarious video showing the lighter side of stop-and-frisk.
