The unofficial start of summer is almost here — and so are a slew of outdoor events and street closures across New York City.

Seasonal programming is ramping up as Memorial Day Weekend arrives and the city’s public beaches open for swimming with lifeguards on duty.

Various neighborhoods are also hosting events and parades for the holiday, to honor the millions of Americans who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. That means roads around the city will be closed as marching bands and American flags make their way down them.

Below we’ve compiled the events causing some of the more significant street closures. A more comprehensive list of planned street closures, including smaller ones for construction and truck deliveries, are listed on the city Department of Transportation’s website. The city also maintains a map of ongoing traffic changes here.

Brooklyn’s 159th Memorial Day Parade
