A man was fatally shot and a woman injured Thursday night at a public housing complex in Bed-Stuy, according to NYPD officials.
Police said officers responded around 11 p.m. to a 911 call about an assault at NYCHA’s Armstrong II development on Lexington Avenue between Marcy and Tompkins avenues. They found a 28-year-old Shyhemm Lee shot in his head and a 23-year-old woman with a graze wound to her neck.
Emergency medical workers took both of them to Kings County Hospital, where Lee was pronounced dead and the woman was listed in stable condition, officials said. Lee lived in Brownsville, about two and a half miles from the shooting scene, according to police.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests in the case have been made so far.
NYPD data through Sept. 7 shows homicides in the 79th Precinct, which includes Bed-Stuy, ticked up by two compared to the same period last year, while shootings remained flat. Citywide, homicides and shootings both decreased about 17%.
