snow_fcst_020408.jpgAs we mentioned over the weekend, Staten Island Chuck predicted a Giants Super Bowl victory as well as an early spring. He got the football prediction right, but what's the deal with the snow, Chuck? We tried to talk to him but his publicist would not return our calls! That forced us to look at a few weather maps, which led us to see that the snow shower was actually a harbinger of warmer weather to come. Maybe Chuck was right afterall. The snow was the result of anxious warm, moist air riding up and over the departing high pressure system that gave us a sunny day yesterday.

The first wave of precipitation has mostly left the area and we should gradually warm this afternoon to the low-40s. A few rain showers may fall this evening before the rain turns steady after midnight. The rain will last until the warm front arrives, which could be as early as late-tonight or as late as early tomorrow afternoon. It doesn't look to us like the rain will be too heavy but you may want to be wearing rain gear if you are going to the parade tomorrow morning. The high tomorrow will be in the mid-50s.

Rain of the showery variety will return Tuesday night and probably all day Wednesday. Highs Wednesday may reach the upper-50s or possibly 60. Could Chuck be right in his prediction of an early Spring? Cooler, drier air arrives Thursday. Expect a sunny day with a high around 45.

Predicted snowfall for this morning showing that it wasn't expected here from the National Weather Service.
