Police are searching for two men who fatally shot a fruit vendor as he was setting up his stand in the Bronx on Thursday morning.
According to police, 61-year-old Faustino Leal was arranging his wares near Hunts Point Market around 5:30 a.m. when he was ambushed by two men, one of whom shot him in the back. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Surveillance footage shows two men exiting a four-door sedan, exiting the frame, and returning a short time later at a sprint, jumping back into the car and driving away.
Authorities have ruled out robbery as a motive, since Leal's wallet and phone were not taken.
