This morning, after hearing about the 2,000 jobs promised by the new Barclays Center arena, we turned our camera away from Atlantic Yards developer Bruce Ratner and the rest of the gang and focused instead on the vast arena behind them. Click through and check out what will soon be the Brooklyn Nets new home, and see how the $1 billion dollar building compares to the previously released renderings.
Ratner is obviously jazzed about the still-under-construction space, and believes the arena's Atrium will help to set it apart from other arenas. "Where are we?" he asked at one point. "We're right now in the Atrium. The grand entrance to this arena. Unlike most arenas, it has a grand entrance. It is bright and big and transparent and you can see right into the bowl. Now why do I mention that? Because in 10, 20, 30, 40 years from now, millions of people will be coming through right where you are right now." AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP HIM.
