Last month, the city unveiled the new Boro Taxis in a low-key ceremony—Bloomberg took pains to describe their color as apple green, NOT "something resembling the putrid product famously coughed up by Linda Blair in The Exorcist," seriously, why do you guys keep bringing that up? It turns out that most people are satisfied with the color—especially people in Manhattan, who won't have to see their streets awash in puke-colored cabs along with all the puke-stained sidewalks.
According to a new Quinnipiac survey, voters approve of the new color overall by a 48-31 percent margin. The borough that seems to like the new cabs the most is Manhattan, who approve of it by a 52-21 percent margin. Of course, the new taxis won't really be serving many Manhattan residents—they can only pick up street fares in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan north of East 96th Street and west of 110th Street. The only borough who actively dislike the color? The Bronx, who disapproved of the color by a 45-39 percent margin. Perhaps that's just because it reminds them of a certain disgusting x-rated term.
