An off-duty police officer, apparently visiting relatives on Staten Island, was shot in the leg. Police believe it was during a robbery attempt in the Port Richmond section. WABC 7 reports that "the officer appeared to be in his car when as many as four suspects approached him. During an ensuing dispute, he was shot twice." Police are looking for the suspects who fled the scene (the cop's brother also helped search for the suspects after reporting the shooting). The cop will undergo surgery today and is expected to survive.
