Authorities are still searching for a 13-year-old boy who went missing after witnesses said he entered the East River on Friday and never came back up.

Shortly after 4 p.m. that day, police responded to reports of a teenager entering the river at East River Park, near East 6th Street, in Manhattan’s East Village, according to the NYPD.

Witnesses reported the boy did not emerge from the waters, prompting a desperate search led by the NYPD’s Emergency Service, Harbor, Technical Assistance Response, and Aviation units.

The department told Gothamist it had no updates on the case as of late Sunday afternoon. Neither the boy’s name nor a reason for why he entered the river were provided.
