Spring is here again and March is on track to go out like a lamb, as temperatures are expected to climb this week and potentially hit 80 degrees Saturday, forecasters say.

Thursday’s highs will be in the low to mid 50s, with sunny skies and dry conditions, National Weather Service meteorologist James Tomasini said. There could be wind gusts of about 20 to 25 mph, he added, but there’s only a small chance of rain overnight after 11 p.m.

Temperatures will continue rising Friday, to the upper 50s or low 60s, “and then Saturday it looks like highs will be in the mid-, upper-70s, and maybe we’ll get an 80-degree reading somewhere,” said Tomasini.

He said the anticipated peak is “unseasonably warm” but will likely remain below record highs by a few degrees.

The weather is expected to take a turn Sunday, when temperatures will drop back into the upper 50s and low 60s, according to the weather service. And rain could come in waves through early next week.
