The Giants and Jets practiced on their new home turf, the new Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ, this week. Unfortunately, things didn't go well for Giant receiver and returner Domenik Hixon, who injured his right knee on during a Tuesday session and is now out for the season. And the new style of artificial turf, FieldTurf, might be the culprit...forget the Swamp Monster—it's the Turf Monster!

At the time of the incident, Coach Tom Coughlin said, "This turf kind of snagged his foot. He didn’t get it up out of the turf," but general manager Jerry Reese said yesterday, "I was looking right at him... it didn't look like his foot got caught, it looked like he was weaving a little bit and his knee just buckled a little bit. That's how I saw it. It could have happened right here on this grass field." Regarding players' descriptions of the field being "mushy," FieldTurf spokesman said, "It needs a couple of weeks of activity to be broken in, to settle"

However, new Jet running back LaDanian Tomlinson said, "The turf is good. It’s a fast track. Guys are going to really enjoy playing on it." And another new Jet is getting used to playing for Gang Green: Fans at the Jets' mini camp yesterday were chanting, "Ja-son Tay-lor! Ja-son Taylor!" for the former Miami Dolphin enemy.
