The New York City Department of Health released more detailed information on COVID-19 deaths today, including a list of deaths by zip code. We've pulled the data to produce this map, which shows high per capita death rates in Starrett City, Far Rockaway, Flushing, the Northeast Bronx, and Coney Island. All five neighborhoods had rates between 2.5X and 3.5X the city's median.

Neighborhoods with the lowest per capita death rates included Wall Street, Greenwich Village, Gramercy Park, Chelsea, and the Upper West Side. You can look up your neighborhood on this interactive version of the map:

We also made a map of case fatality rates by zip code, which measures the number of deaths divided by the number of total cases -- it can be useful for discerning where more cases have ended in fatalities, though it can be biased by the amount of testing done in the neighborhood. Flushing stands out for its high CFR, as does Chinatown, Coney Island, and Starrett City.

It's worth noting that some neighborhoods that have high case rates, including Borough Park, do not have particularly high death rates, which might reflect differences in underlying population health, access to health care, or age demographics.
