Brooklyn Nets backup forward Andray Blatche was questioned about an alleged sexual assault that occurred at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia this morning. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsay told the NY Times, "From all accounts, he was not personally involved in any kind of assault or anything like that... He was there but he was not involved."
According to CBS's Philadelphia affiliate, Blatche had reserved a room (apparently a suite) for his friends:
Sources say Blatche and one of friends entered a sixth floor hotel suite with two women they apparently knew.
When they entered the room, sources say the four saw the accuser having sex with the second of Blatche’s two friends in a bedroom. Sources say when the first friend walked out of the bedroom, Blatche’s second friend went into the bedroom and also had sex with the accuser.
After the two were finished, the second friend joined the four others in the living room of the suite while the accuser remained in the bedroom. Moments later, officers knocked on the door and said they had a report of a rape.
All six at the hotel suite, including the accuser, were taken to the Special Victims Unit for questioning.
The 21-year-old accuser told police that she had consensual sex with one man and nonconsensual sex with another man. However, both men reportedly told the police that it was consensual.
The NY Times reports, "Ramsey said investigators ordered a rape kit in hopes of acquiring DNA evidence. He said the investigation was in its early stages and it was unclear if charges would be filed against anyone. 'She was so intoxicated,' Ramsey said. 'She is not going to be a very good witness.' He added, 'She is being formally interviewed right now.'"
Blatche told reporters, "I had nothing to do with nothing. I'm just here to play basketball and I'm focused on the game tonight." (The Nets are playing the Philadelphia 76ers tonight.) A NBC Philadelphia reporter asked, "Do you know why a girl would go to the hospital?" to which Blatche said, "I couldn't even tell you why. Maybe she was sick, I don't know."
