On Monday passengers on an M train pulling into the Marcy Avenue station got a scare when one of the car doors opened even though it wasn't in the station. MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz told us, "This is a serious incident and we are investigating. We are also in the process of identifying the train crew involved," and apparently they've identified them. NY1 reports that the MTA has found the crew and they will all be removed from service.
Ortiz tells us, "They will not be allowed to operate a train pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation." It's unclear how the doors were opened; it's possible that the conductor believed the train to be shorter than it was. But the M train is safe to ride for another day! Just remember to check for an actual platform when you exit the train.
