After a desperate search for a boy who disappeared from his Brooklyn apartment building last week, the police announced that he was found in Manhattan. 11-year-old Kareem Granton was spotted at the Union Square subway station by a Good Samaritan.

On Wednesday, March 5, Kareem had left his apartment in East New York in the morning and was at a neighbor's, to play video games. One resident of the building said, "He has run away a couple times from his mom and come up here." His mother Precious Granton had said yesterday, "I just don’t want to think the worst. I try not to think too much and hope that he is somewhere safe because I don’t need no bad phone calls. I don’t want no bad phone calls. I just want the phone call saying he’s here come get him or we’ll send him home."

Happily, she got that call today. According to the NYPD, "Transit K9 Police Officer Grimm was patrolling the Union Square Street subway station when a subway rider approached him and identified the missing boy that she had recognized thanks to a local media broadcasts."

It turns out the passenger saw him on a southbound 4 train that pulled into the station at 7 a.m., the Daily News reports.

The News' source said, "[Grimm] went over and actually got the kid right before the train left. "The kid was very happy to see the dog. (The officer) took the kid upstairs, he spoke to the kid. He took him to McDonald's." FYI: The dog's name is Dakota!
