Police were looking Thursday for someone who they said shot and injured an 18-year-old man near the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge in Dumbo.

The shooting happened near Cadman Plaza East and Prospect Street around 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to NYPD officials. Officers arrived at the scene and found the man shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction and was wearing a gray hoodie at the time, police said. Officials were still investigating whether the suspect and victim knew each other, and a potential motive.

It was the first shooting so far this year in the NYPD’s 84th Precinct, where police data shows gun violence is rare. Last year, there was only one shooting in the precinct, which includes Dumbo, Downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights and parts of Boerum Hill.
