Police officials were investigating on Thursday morning after finding a homeless man dead near Central Park’s SummerStage area on Wednesday evening.
According to the NYPD, a passerby spotted the man lying unconscious and unresponsive near 72nd Street and East Drive around 6:45 p.m. and alerted police officers assigned to the park.
Police said the officers attempted lifesaving measures and called emergency medical workers, who pronounced the man dead at the scene.
NYPD officials later identified him as Kevin Omeara, 45.
He did not have any obvious signs of physical injuries, though he was exposed to the elements in freezing weather, according to police. No arrests were made in the case.
