A nearly 90-year-old man remained in critical condition Tuesday morning after an MTA bus driver struck him on a Brooklyn street Monday night, NYPD officials said.
Police said officers who responded to the scene discovered an 87-year-old man pinned under the city bus at East 12th Street and Avenue Z in Sheepshead Bay around 6:40 p.m. An initial investigation found the man was standing near the corner when the driver made a left onto the avenue and hit him, according to officials.
The man was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in critical condition, police said. The 34-year-old driver remained at the collision site and then was taken to Coney Island Medical Center in stable condition.
Officials said the bus was not in service at the time of the incident, so no passengers were on board. A spokesperson for the MTA referred to the NYPD for comment.
No arrests have been made.
