• Devils 4 Colorado 0: Was their any doubt in your mind that Martin Brodeur would write a return like this? Back in net for the first time in 50 games, Brodeur shutout the Avalanche with 24 saves. The win was his 545th and puts him just six behind Patrick Roy for the all-time record. It was also his 99th regular season shut-out!
  • Florida 2 Rangers 1: Yes, they lost again, but there were some positive signs in this one. First, the effort was very good. New York had 41 shots on net and if Craig Anderson hadn’t been as sharp as he was, the Rangers would have scored in bunches. Second, most of the players who have to step up did. Gomez had a solid game, as did Drury and Zherdev.

Now, you can criticize the power play (it still sucks) and you can rightfully point to the fact that the Rangers have now scored two goals or less in 37 games. But, they looked better Thursday and could be close to turning it around. The question is, is it too late?

  • Toronto 5 Islanders 4: Sometimes a point is a victory. The Islanders battled back from 2-0 and 4-2 deficits before falling in the shootout to the Maple Leafs.
