After receiving a report about a break-in at the Woods III condominium complex in Peekskill yesterday morning, police responded to the home shortly after 8:30 a.m. to conduct a search. And they say it didn't take long to turn up one Lizbeth Hernandez, 47, hiding in the closet with a large carving knife and a roll of duct tape. Surprise!

The apartment belongs to a woman whom Hernandez's husband has been having an affair with, police sources say. Peekskill Police Chief tells ABC 7, "We can only surmise at this time that [she was there] to cause harm." Or maybe she just wanted to carve a little "A" on the homewrecker's forehead? What they found in the car suggests Hernandez had a little more than that in mind: latex gloves and a bottle of bleach. Whatever happened to the more dignified tradition of just dumping pots of boiling water on your cheating husband's genitals?

Police say Hernandez entered the apartment by breaking a window, and luckily for her husband's mistress, a witness spotted her. She's charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and second-degree burglary, a misdemeanor, Lohud.com reports.
