Former presidential candidate John Edwards has officially commented on the DNAinfo story that says his name was mentioned as a client of alleged "Millionaire Madam" Anna Gristina. His lawyer Allison Van Laningham said, "Mr. Edwards categorically denies that he was involved with any prostitute or service. These allegations are false, defamatory, and he puts those who would publish or repeat them on notice that they acting with actual malice by reporting or repeating them."
Edwards also wants a retraction of the story which notes that Edwards' campaign has charges for near-monthly stays at the Regency hotel and the Comfort Inn in Midtown. Of course, we've been down this road before of Edwards denying things (like having a love child with mistress Rielle Hunter) and then admitting it's true (that love child IS his!). Politico points out that the man who wrote the DNAinfo story is, "Murray Weiss...[who] was a longtime police reporter for the New York Post before joining DNAinfo. Several weeks ago, he was the first to disclose the existence of the Upper East side escort service."
Gristina is still being held on $2 million bail.
