Last night a Jersey City man was struck by speeding vehicle, thrown from the scene of the accident, and died after being impaled on a wrought iron fence in a three-car crash that may have been the result of drag racing. Two brothers, 19-year-old Giancarlo J. Guevera-Cabezas and 24-year-old Carlos J. Guevera-Cabezas were charged with speeding and reckless driving after their Honda Civics struck another vehicle as the younger brother attempted to pass it, sending his Civic flying over the curb. The victim, who died in the hospital, has yet to be identified because he wasn't carrying identification. Another 19-year-old man was also struck and suffered leg injuries.

A man who witnessed the incident, which happened around 10:49 p.m., told the Star-Ledger that he found the victim "hanging upside down from the fence" in front of an elementary school, and that he "wasn't moving at all. I felt very bad for that guy." Authorities determined that the man "was struck with such force that he was thrown through the air and damaged a large, cast iron drain pipe," before he was "slammed into the brick facade" of the school, only to be impaled on the fence. The man who the brothers hit said, "They were going very fast—50 to 60. I couldn't tell if they were racing, but they were going too fast. No time to react."

Police are still investigating the Kennedy Boulevard crash, but ABC reports that the brothers claimed a fourth car hit them and made their cars swerve out of control. They both suffered cuts and leg fractures. The victim is described as a "Hindu male, approximately 25 to 30 years old."
