It's a typical Spring day today. Look at that snow melt! Lots of rain, perhaps a thunderstorm, a flood advisory for the city and surrounding counties, and a high near 60 this afternoon. That's pretty normal for this time of year, if this time of year were mid-April. For late January it's about twenty degrees warmer than average. Can there by a January thaw if there is no January freeze?
The rains should taper off this afternoon as the low pressure system that's currently centered over Syracuse heads down the St. Lawrence Valley. The winds will pick up as the cold front trailing the storm drags itself across the region. Given that this storm was swirling around the Gulf Coast this week there's not that much cold air behind the front. Tomorrow should be sunny and in the upper 40s and Sunday is likely to be just a few degrees cooler.
Another weak front on Sunday night will usher in slightly cooler weather on Monday. Monday's high is expected to be near normal at 39 degrees. Warmer weather will return by midweek.
