The National Rife Association is fulfilling its promise to "stand and fight" gun control with a new television ad that focuses on President Obama's two daughters, Sasha and Malia. "Are the president's kids more important than yours?" the ad asks as it flashes a school lunchbox embossed with the presidential seal. "Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their schools?" And why do THEY get to live in a huge mansion and have such cool lunchboxes?

The ad also calls the president an "elitist hypocrite," along with David Gregory, Senator Diane Feinstein, Mayor Bloomberg, and Joe Biden.

While the daughters of the leader of the free world may be better protected than the rank and file members of the NRA, they definitely have inferior video games in the White House.

For the record, I went to the same high school as NRA executive VP Wayne LaPierre, which incidentally had armed guards, so where do I go to apply for my diplomatic credentials and Swiss bank accounts? As stupid as this ad is, it will likely lead to an increase in the NRA's membership.

[UPDATE] Minutes before the president and vice president reveal their gun control proposals, White House spokesman Jay Carney responds to the NRA's ad in a statement obtained by Buzzfeed:

"Most Americans agree that a president's children should not be used as pawns in a political fight. But to go so far as to make the safety of the President's children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly."
