The National Weather Service's scary "Potential Nor'easter" warning from earlier in the week has failed even in the modest task which was its charge. The guv'ment meteorologists are now predicting maybe 3-4 inches in NYC tops, with more accumulation expected upstate and in parts of New England.

The sloppy wet mess is expected to commence this evening and continue through Saturday afternoon, but temperatures will likely range between 31-38 degrees, meaning less black ice, more rain, and that heavy wet type of snow that insurance companies love so much. It all sounds rather dreary, so let's just watch that insane black ice video one more time to get the blood flowing:

They say the dreaded "WINTRY MIX" will drop wet, heavy snow—the bitter enemy of power lines—as well as freezing rain and sleet. If you're planning on driving north or south late tonight or tomorrow, you can expect delays and hazardous conditions. And The Weather Channel has this for you to chew on:

There's a strong chance it will undergo "bombogenesis" - a rapid pressure drop of at least 24 millibars in 24 hours. This will allow strong winds to churn up around the storm, and some of those winds could affect coastal areas of the Northeast.

Of course, with heavy winds you're gonna have a much higher chance of frogs:

Sunday is expected to be a day of rest/frog cleanup, and then a "heavier" snow storm "blasts commuters" on Monday, the good ol' New York Post reports.
