A JetBlue flight struck a drone while approaching John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday morning, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The pilot of JetBlue Flight 948 reported hitting the drone at an altitude of about 3,000 feet while on final approach to JFK around 7:15 a.m., the FAA said in a statement posted to X.
A post-flight inspection found no damage to the aircraft, the FAA said.
JetBlue said the crew reported a "possible drone encounter" during the aircraft's final approach into JFK. The airline said the flight landed without incident, passengers deplaned normally and the aircraft was removed from service for a post-flight inspection.
The FAA said it is investigating the incident.
The incident comes after the FAA said United Airlines crew members spotted a drone as their flight approached Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday night. The plane landed safely.
Operating drones around planes, helicopters and airports is illegal, but the FAA said it gets more than 100 reports of drone sightings near airports each month.
