On the heels of reports that Dominique Strauss-Kahn was in New York to visit his mistress when he assaulted a maid at the Sofitel, a "friend" of Strauss-Kahn's wife, Anne Sinclair, tells French magazine Le Point, "It wasn't just one for the road before the presidential campaign. It was three." In addition to the three women Strauss-Kahn allegedly bedded, he also reportedly invited a receptionist up to his room "for a glass of champagne," but she refused him. According to The Australian, Sinclair told friends, "Dominique has never been violent with anyone. Even the children, he never smacked them. He's a seducer, not a rapist."
The couple were spotted at the Berkshires a few days ago taking in classical performances at Tanglewood and staying at pricey resorts, and Sinclair had her 63rd birthday on Friday. She also told friends that her husband warned her 20 years ago before they were married of his tendency to stray: "Don't marry me," he reportedly said, "I'm an incorrigible skirt-chaser." Strauss-Kahn has also allegedly been "stuffing himself with sleeping pills to keep at bay his terror of being sent back to prison," while Sinclair told the magazine that at a recent court hearing, she "dug her nails into the palms of her hands until they bled" so she wouldn't have a nervous breakdown. It's tough to see the anguish in this photo of them at the Berkshires. Strauss-Kahn's next hearing is August 1.
