Former NY1 political pundit Dom Carter has started his comeback. After being convicted of misdemeanor assault for "punching, choking, and kicking" his wife, getting hit with a 30-day sentence, and losing his TV show, the newsman has begun blogging.

Earlier this week, Carter published his first post for the New York City political website Room Eight, a forum where anyone can publish entries, the Post reports. Though the former "Inside City Hall" host's column on Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's seemingly inevitable gubernatorial victory doesn't cover much new ground, he makes a good point about how Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy's entry into the Republican field will only make matters more difficult for the GOP.

When Carter was released from jail 11 days early on good behavior, he said he had put the past behind him and started "writing a new chapter in my life." Now that he's got some blogging cred, perhaps he'll try to land departing Daily News political blogger Liz Benjamin's gig.
