A Delta plane bound for LaGuardia Airport was forced to make an emergency landing at JFK last night thanks to issues with its hydraulic system—and it ended up skidding off the runway onto grass, which is definitely not something you want to experience while inside of or piloting an aircraft. Luckily, it appears no humans or geese were hurt.

Delta Flight 886, which departed from Atlanta, was on its way to LaGuardia at around 9 p.m. yesterday when the pilot began experiencing problems with the plane's hydraulic pressure, affecting the aircraft's mechanical controls. The flight was diverted to JFK, which boasts longer runways; after it made contact with the ground, it rolled off the runway and onto a nearby patch of grass before finally coming to a stop.

"It was a little scary," passenger Bhatia Tasneem told NBC News—another passenger told the outlet the landing was fine "up until the very end, when it felt like stopping short, someone slamming on the brakes."

None of the 118 passengers nor any members of the flight crew were injured, and passengers were taken to LaGuardia by shuttle bus. The Port Authority and FAA say they're investigating the incident, and I will be accepting donations of horse tranquilizers from coworkers and readers alike before boarding my flight tomorrow.
