It was looking increasingly likely that 21-year-old Portuguese male model Renato Seabra would plead insanity and today his lawyer made it official. Seabra is accused of choking, stabbing, castrating with a corkscrew, ramming in the face with a computer monitor and stomping on the head of his older male lover, the Portuguese writer Carlos Castro, in a Times Square Hotel room last January.

"We filed a motion to use an affirmative defense that he didn't know what he was doing was wrong," defense lawyer David Touger told reporters this afternoon.

The judge in the case, Justice Charles Solomon, isn't exactly happy with Touger's decision though as he has yet to provide a report prepared by a defense psychiatrist regarding Seabra's mental state. "Now it's June 3, almost another month late and still no report," Solomon said in court. "I want the report—I want to see it."

Meanwhile Seabra showed up for today's brief session in a summer suit looking worse for wear. Which makes sense. As his lawyer said today "He's under a lot of pressure. He's a man in prison."
